Connect your bank
  1. Open the Accounts tab and tap +, then choose Connect a bank.
  2. Find your bank and sign in through Plaid. GroFunds never sees your bank login, and access is read only.
  3. Choose the accounts to share. Your transactions arrive within a minute or two, with up to two years of history.
  4. Each person can connect up to 5 banks, in Canada and the United States.
Fix a bank that needs attention
  1. If a bank asks you to sign in again, its card shows Reconnect under Menu › Institutions.
  2. Tap the button on the card and sign in to your bank. Nothing is lost; syncing picks up where it stopped.
  3. To refresh balances, open the bank and tap Refresh. It can be used once an hour.
Set a budget
  1. Open the menu (top left) and choose Budget.
  2. GroFunds suggests a limit for each category from your real spending. Adjust any that don’t fit and save.
  3. Bars turn saffron near a limit and red over it, and you get an alert when a category goes over.
Sort transactions with rules
  1. Open a transaction to change its category, rename it, tag it or split it.
  2. To do it every time, open the menu › Rules and create a rule, for example Name contains Uber goes to Transport.
  3. A new rule can also apply to past transactions.
Add a transaction by hand
  1. Open the Transactions tab and tap +.
  2. Enter the amount, pick the account and category, and save. It syncs in the background, even offline.
Invite your partner
  1. Open the menu › Members and tap Invite someone, or invite from your workspace.
  2. Enter their email and choose what they can do: view only, or add and edit.
  3. Your subscription covers one partner at no extra cost: the first person to join who doesn’t have their own. Anyone else needs their own subscription.
  4. They get an email; once they install GroFunds and sign up, the invite is waiting.
Turn on two-factor sign-in
  1. Open Settings › Security › Two-factor sign-in and turn on Authenticator app.
  2. Scan the QR code with an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator, 1Password or iCloud Passwords, then enter the 6-digit code.
  3. Add a backup authenticator in case you lose your phone.
Export your data
  1. Open Settings › Data › Export to CSV.
  2. Save or share the file from the share sheet.
Manage your subscription
  1. GroFunds is billed through the App Store: CA$16.99 a month or CA$149.99 a year, after a 7-day free trial.
  2. On your iPhone, open Settings › your name › Subscriptions › GroFunds to switch plans or cancel.
  3. Cancelling keeps GroFunds working until the end of the current period. Then the banks you connected stop syncing, and after 30 days they are disconnected; your history stays.
Delete your account
  1. Open Settings and tap Delete account at the bottom, then confirm.
  2. This permanently removes your account and the workspaces you own. Deleting your account does not cancel your App Store subscription, so cancel that too.
